Artistic leader, conductor
Gijs Leenaars, who grew up in Nijmegen, obtained his conservatory diploma, majoring in piano, one year after obtaining his high school diploma. After this he studied choral conducting and singing at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and took orchestral conducting lessons with Joop van Zon. In addition to being the artistic director of the Bachkoor Holland, he has been the chief conductor of the Groot Omroepkoor since the 2012/2013 season. In recent years, Gijs has worked with Cappella Amsterdam, Collegium Vocale Ghent, the Nederlands Kamerkoor and Rundfunkchor Berlin. As an orchestra conductor he led the Residentie Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gelders Orchestra, among others. Gijs has been chief conductor of Rundfunkchor Berlin since season 2015/2016.

Choir
Bachkoor Holland has a stable line-up of professional choir members who together deliver a high-quality musical result. The Bach Choir Holland is musically accompanied by the renowned Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, consisting of members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
